CARO BOWL AT PLTC FRIDAY 10th 6pm Our sponsors, Little Island, Head. We have to be pleased that we are hosting an exciting high energy Caro Bowl this Friday at the Club. Hence an earlier Lawn newsletter to advise. This is the one to watch! The weather is predicted to be bang on, so if you have no plans then you need to come and get involved in what will be an amazing display of talent and a fun festival like evening at PLTC. Parnell ‘Little Island Women's' and ‘Head Men's'. Our teams are up with a Double Header vs Next Generation at PLTC from 6pm Friday 10th November All Family & Friends welcome to take part in a fantastic evening of TOP quality tennis! Happy Hour 5-6pm - get in early! Burgers, sausages & Rose! Kids Fun meal $5 (Sausage and a Nice Block) We need some wonderful volunteers, please, to assist with a few heavy and lite duties on Friday night, any support would be greatly appreciated. Please ask any of the Committee members for instructions - put away umbrellas, furniture, clear glasses, help in the kitchen, etc. You are awesome! |

CARO BOWL Little Island Women's and Head Men's. Last Friday night CARO BOWL Results: Head Men's Parnell Tennis secured an impressive 4-2 victory over Blockhouse Bay, thanks to a stunning performance by Ben Cawston who clinched a crucial win in a thrilling third set battle against Victor Romero. Our team's strength was bolstered by the addition of Rubin Statham and and strong combination with our most experienced team member, Andrew Turner.

We are now selling Little Island Ice blocks Bar Glasses - Bar Ice-Maker Please do NOT take Bar Glasses on Court, we have numerous glasses left outside and a couple have been broken in the last month. Ice - The ice in the bar, is OFF LIMITS to all members! The ICE can ONLY be handled by the Bar Staff & those on Duty. We will be vigilant with this. NO DOGS It has been noted a few times in the past, PLTC has a strict NO DOGS policy on its property. After a very serious incident with a dog bite last year it is of crucial importance. Leave furry friends at home, even if it is a super friendly family dog. OBITURARY Ashley Francis WILSON,DR, JP. 1932-2023 Obituary (click here for full notice) With sadness ….and a note below from the current Auckland Seniors President. Tomorrow as your President I will be representing Tennis Seniors Auckland at the service commemorating the life of Ashley Wilson. Ashley was our Patron. He was a role model for Seniors tennis not just in Auckland but nationally and internationally. Ashley’s contribution to Tennis Seniors Auckland was outstanding. He was President from 1999 to 2006, became a Life Member in 2007, served as Treasurer for a period and in 2017 was elected as Patron of Tennis Seniors Auckland. Ashley was actively involved in the organisation of two National Teams Events hosted by Tennis Seniors Auckland. Ashley was instrumental in the redevelopment of Nicholson Park which for a number of years was the home for Tennis Seniors Auckland. But above all Ashley fully participated in all of our tennis activities including representative fixtures, tournaments and social play. Ashley had wanted to attend at our tournament this Labour Weekend but unfortunately he was too weak to do so. Ashley’s love of tennis saw him compete at the National level where he won 6 National titles in singles and doubles in his age group. Ashley also competed in numerous overseas tournaments over the years and was ranked amongst the top players in the world in his age groups. I had the privilege of spending some time with Ashley a few weeks ago just after his return from another overseas tennis trip. Despite the prognosis he had received only a few days earlier Ashley was extremely proud to tell me that he had just won the UK clay court singles championship for his age group. We reminisced for quite some time recalling various tennis matters and players we had each encountered and talking about tennis generally Those of you who knew Ashley will remember him as the perfect gentleman both on and off the court. Ashley will be sorely missed by Tennis Seniors Auckland. But his legacy should serve as an example to us all as to the possibilities that Seniors tennis can offer over a lifetime. WEDNESDAY CLUB NIGHT 5.45pm for 6pm Every Wed - Check The ‘APP’ for weather Fabulous sessions of fun, friendly and active paced drill type sessions and then a chance to play some doubles. Followed by a beverage and piece of Sal's pizza. DO keep an eye on our APP alert to confirm we will be playing. Ideal for new members. Also remind anyone who may be interested to join PLTC that this is a great way to get a good feel for the club and its impressive facilities.
