Lighting Update

Yes, the lighting upgrade is finally underway, and for those lucky enough to have played on courts 6-8 over the last couple of nights, they will have noticed that the level of brightness has improved enormously.  A few technical difficulties with the operation of the scissor lift and the wiring configuration, combined with a couple of days of heavy rain, have meant that progress is a little slower than expected.  However, the hope is to have the top bay completed over the next week or so, before starting on the bottom bay.

Unfortunately, the four poles on the south side of the bottom bay (along the deck) have corroded badly and need to be replaced.  Quotes have already been received for the replacement, and the logistics associated with the pole replacement are now being worked through. Hopefully, the LED upgrade of the bottom bay can be timed to coincide with the pole replacement, thereby minimising disruption to court use. However, matting will need to be laid on the courts during removal of the old poles and installation of the new ones, and we will be without lights along the south side for some time. Please be patient, the final product should be worth the wait!

The cost of replacing these four poles is nearly $30,000, significantly more than the contingency fund of $5000 included in the budget. Anyone who has not already donated to the lighting fund and would like to do so, please talk with Feleti. Any contributions would be very gratefully received.

Great news!…..We now have uncapped internet, ie "all you can eat" This means that all members are free to use the wifi/internet when they are at the club.

There is a QR code on the board currently which you can log on with, then the details will be available from the bar. Happy Surfing!

SPECIAL MENTION

This is hot off the press from Goran, the immensely proud grandfather of the very capable Una Misic.

ARCHIVES

I was given by a dear friend a few weeks ago  a news clipping and a copy of the Centennial Celebrations Booklet, both from 1972.

I am sure many of you may have seen both yet I feel that the news clipping was a rather special write up for  PLTC back then. Over the coming weeks I will attach each news section written by T P McLean for your enjoyment. I personally found the writing style to be especially amusing.

HOST at PLTC

From time to time we have special events at the club, some overseas guests and some private functions and many others in-between.

We would be very open to have Your next Function at PLTC.We have many options as to corporate functions and social occasions. We even can get tennis play into your event if so desired.

Think… afternoon tea gatherings or morning Business Team meets.  Evening Ted talks? or just simple drinks and divine canapes with staff or friends.

Talk to Your boss or PR people and “team build”or “celebrate a milestone” or “congratulate success”, or “welcome new staff”.

We have many options to suit your own special needs, and we welcome you to chat with our famous Manager Feleti, to help you book and arrange your next event.

Just to note

in the winter months the lower external Door to the club will be locked in the evening for security.
