Junior Coaching

Junior Coaching at PLTC

We provide a variety of tennis opportunities for junior players of all standards, from those starting out to elite tournament level players. We currently have a number of highly ranked junior players. Junior members can progress to play in adult competitions when they reach the appropriate standard. There are a large number of junior members playing throughout the grades.

Junior coaching is held on Saturday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30am (5 - 9 years old), and from 10.30am -11:30am (10 - 18 years old).  If it is raining, indoor classes are held in the clubrooms. Groups are structured according to player ability, from beginner through to advanced.


Wednesday Coaching with Adam Staub

Starting in term four (first date: October 16), head coach Adam Staub will be running Junior coaching sessions every Wednesday afternoon, from 3:30 to 4:30pm (5 - 9 years old), and from 4:30 -5:30pm (10 - 18 years old). 

Limited numbers on each court, so lots of hitting!

These sessions will be graded acording to player ability.

The cost per term is $200 for Junior members, and $250 for non-members.

School Holiday Tennis Clinics

PLTC holds an exciting school holiday programme for juniors who are keen to improve their tennis. We endeavor to structure groups according to player ability from beginner to advanced standards. There are morning and afternoon clinics or a full day clinic  Coaching is held rain or shine. These holiday clinics are suitable for ages 5 - 18 years old.

Una Misic - a Parnell Junior Success Story

Parnell born and raised, Una Misic (13) displayed all of her exceptional skills at the New Zealand National 16 and under Junior Championship (16U) in Christchurch recently, winning both the singles & doubles titles - a remarkable accomplishment given her age.  

In an interesting piece of trivia, her mum (and Parnell club coach) Gorana Marsic won the same 16U NZ Singles National title in 1997-98.  Mum and daughter's names on the same trophy 26 years apart!

We look forward with interest to seeing what Una can accomplish in the years ahead!


    


Junior Coach - Goran Marsic

Goran has been a coach at Parnell for many years and is a NZPTCA (Level 2) / TCNZ (Competiton coach) qualified professional coach. Goran works with the juniors on Saturday mornings and Sundays.  He also runs an 8-week course for beginners during the term as well as School Holiday tennis clinics.  If juniors want further coaching, he is available for private lessons by arrangement.  Contact Goran on 021 167 7460 or email gmarsic@gmail.com
